Does this charger work with my EV?
Yes. EvoCharge Home 50 will work with any electric vehicle including Tesla, with the Tesla provided J1772 to NACS adaptor.
Do I need a Level 2 charging station?
Yes. With over 80% of charging happening at home a Level 2 charging station drastically reduces the time it takes to fully charge your vehicle. Charging at home also provides a low-cost and convenient way to charge. The EvoCharge Home 50 provides up to 45 miles of range per hour charged.

Is the EvoCharge Home 50 certified?
Yes. The Home 50 has been rigorously tested and certified by Underwriter’s Laboratory (UL).
Do I plug-in or hardwire the charging station?
EvoCharge Home 50 is only available as a hardwired unit.
A hardwired installation is safer and more reliable for high amperage, continuous use electrical products. In addition the 2023 NEC(National Electrical Code) for residential homes requires charging stations over 40A(9.6kw) to be hardwired.
What is the EvoCharge warranty?
EvoCharge warrants each charging station for a period of three(3) years.
For complete details view our warranty policy.
Do I need an electrician to install the EvoCharge Home 50?
Yes. The EvoCharge Home 50 is a hardwired only installation and we recommend a licensed electrician to perform the install. This unit has convenient hardwire access through the bottom of the unit or the optional knockout plug on the back of the unit for a clean look and concealed power connection.
For more details view the install instructions in the product manual.
Can I install the charger outdoors?
Yes, the Home 50 can be installed either indoors or outdoors. The NEMA 4 rated weather-tight (weatherproof) enclosure protects the charger from dirt, rain, sleet, snow, windblown dust, splashing water, hose-directed water and external ice formation. The unit is also IK10 impact rated, one of the highest ratings for enclosures to resist damage from impacts due to harsh environments.
What do I get with the mobile app?
The EvoCharge mobile app is designed to simplify home charging. With the app you will be able to:
- Schedule automatic charging times for when electrical rates are cheaper
- Share access to the charger with family and friends
- Save all your vehicles to your virtual garage
- Add your utility rates for charging cost estimates
- View live charging status and past charging history
- Free access to the online web portal for management, additional data, and reporting
Why can’t I see the chargers Bluetooth signal?
The EvoCharge Home 50 automatically broadcasts the Bluetooth signal for 30 minutes once the unit is powered on. After those 30 minutes to rebroadcast the signal you will need to power cycle the charger by flipping the breaker off and then on again.
Is the Home 50 smart home compatible?
The EvoCharge Home 50 is compatible with Alexa, Siri, and Google Home.

Q Questions my electrician asked me to confirm- Does this need a neutral connection or just two hot...... Read more answer nowA
This hardwired power connection does not require a neutral, just two hot and a ground. You would NOT install this with a GFCI breaker as the unit itself has GFCI built in.
My gargage wall is concrete. Is there a plug-in adaptor? Thanks, Larry

A
The EvoCharge Home 50 is currently only available as a hardwired power connection. This can be installed in most situations including on a concrete wall with the appropriate electrical supplies.

I’ve been using my Evocharge 50 for about 2 months and have nothing but positives to report. Using the app makes charging easy and worry free. My previous experience with a home charger was unsatisfying with multiple “dropped” charging episodes. I have had no issues with my Evocharge 50; it charges quickly and the extra long cord means I don’t have to back up into the garage.
Five stars!
I recently replaced an older charger with the EvoCharge Home 50. The installation was easy and the instruction manual is well laid out. The app is intuitive and easy to understand. The unit looks great and the charging cord is super flexible and easy to store. Completely satisfied with this EVSE and would highly recommend it.
The EvoCharge Home 50 is my 4th charger. I started with a 32 amp charger, then I went to a 40 amp one. With the addition of our second EV I added a second 40 amp charger. When I added the second charger I did not install a second circuit, instead I purchased the NeoCharge smart splitter and ran both of the 40 amp chargers off one circuit. This all worked, but I never really liked it. Also, my second EV has the ability to charge at 11 kW, or could take advantage of a 50 amp charger. With the availability of the EvoCharge Home 50 and one of my 40 amp chargers failing, I decided to install the EvoCharge Home 50 on a new dedicated circuit. Besides, the Home 50 needs to be hard wired and as such could not be used with the NeoCharge smart spitter.
Installation of the 50 amp charger was a jump from what was needed for the 40 amp unit. The circuit needed a 70 amp breaker and 4 sized wire. I like that 4 wire can actually handle current up to 85 amps (and more for runs less than 50 feet). Meaning that for the Home 50, I’m not living on the edge of what the wiring can tolerate. From a peace of mind point of view, I really like the hard wired component and the increased wiring size for the Home 50. As you would expect, the cost for installation for the 50 amp charger was more than for the 40 amp unit. It is hard to say what the comparative added cost was since they are in different locations, at different times, and required different amounts of equipment and time. My best guess is that for me, the Home 50 installation cost was about 50% more of what a 40 amp unit would have cost. Considering the circuit that I got from the install – it was well worth it.
Concerning the Home 50 itself, I have been using it for a little over 1 month now. I like the unit. It is very well built and has a nice look to it. I have had no issues with it. I do like having a separate holster holder – it allowed me to position the charge where it was best located and the cable, and handle where it is easy to get to. You can’t consider a charger now without looking at the available software. Together they meet my needs. I needed to be able to set a schedule for when to charge. I don’t want both chargers on at the same time (they are made by different manufactures and have no way of knowing when the other is being used). It notifies me of when a charge starts and stops. I can start a charge remotely (assuming it is plugged into the car). I can see a history of past charging sessions. The unit has an indicator light that notifies me of its state. It gives me an estimation of the cost of a charger and the number of miles added from the charge. Overall, I have found the software and charger to work great for my needs. Would get it again.
We were originally using the plug in charger that came with our car. But after needing to take it with us on a couple of trips we decided that something more permanent needed to be installed. After checking we decided on the Evocharge 50. We liked the 25 ft cord that is provided with the unit. Also the availability to have different choices of charging rate based on house wiring was great. We currently are using the 40 amp due to our 50 amp circuit. It was charging much faster than the plug in charger we were using in the same circuit.
The app is also very good. A neat thing that it has is availability to see how much a charge costs . After putting. In our Xcel rate it calculated the amount. It also comes with a holster for the cord which makes getting the cord off the ground very convenient. Would highly recommend the Evocharger 50 to anyone looking for a high quality hardwired charger.
This charger is super easy to install and works like a charm. It charges my car quickly, and the smart features are a game changer! Highly recommend it!
Charger came nicely package with sufficient protection. The instructions was clear and concise on what is needed for the installation. Easy to install and charger was well made.
We bought the Evocharge Home 50 because it was eligible for a local rebate.
It was easy to install and when working is fine. Gets the job done quickly.
After a few months, it stopped working but the company stood by their product and sent a replacement. Very nice people at their customer service department.
My complaints are that the holder for wrapping the cord around has VERY sharp edges! When putting the plug back in the holder, you have to be very careful that it clipped in completely or else it will fall out and after a few low drops, the plastic handle will begin to look very chewed up.
Clean looking, installed!
Replaced my Juicebox with the EvoCharge 50. Followed simple instructions to install. I like the adaptability to set to different amperage. App is informative too.
Purchased this home charger after an EV purchase so it just made sense to have faster charging at home as we have solar as well. Arrived quickly and was installed without a hitch by our electrician. Like Jobs used to say, it just works. Plug it in and within a few seconds, the EV I’ve designated begins charging. One thing I do like is the very long chord that allows us to charge the car whether it’s right next to the unit or further away. No issues so far. Would highly recommend.
My charger is inside my garage next to the door, so it’s easy to access & connect for overnight charging. It has worked well on my Nissan Leaf. However, I don’t know anything about the mobile app.
Well, I hope they can make this unit a single unit rather than separate. Also, they need to specify if it is a NACS or old connector; otherwise, people could buy the wrong plug in connector.
I purchased and installed my EvoCharge50 in late August 2024. I wired the unit to be capable of 48 amp charging, using 4 gauge wiring and a 60 amp breaker, even though I’ve set it for 40 amp charging, as my plug in hybrid will only accept about a 7kw charge rate. I’ve had no issues with the unit, only my own slow learning curve syncing the car and charger start times. So far the EvoCharge50 has been very reliable, and fully charges in just over 2 1 2 hours (about 16kw). I highly recommend this unit, as the price is reasonable and seems to be very reliable.
dependable charger system, hardware components built to heavy use standards. Software, when working, provides valuable information on costs of using EV charger. Had to reset and re install software several times. Wife, average non technical background, couldn’t get EV software to work for her. No real written software user manual. Good phone call support, not always available. We had to default to auto manufacturers software, which works Okay. Manufacturers software while okay doesn’t provide the much needed information provided by EV charger mobile app, (If it was not so buggy and undependable.). 5 stars for product and installation, 2 stars for mobile app.
I’ve been using my Evo Charger 50 for about a year it works Great, It Was very EZ to install, and the Customer service was Great,, in the Cold Temperature last Winter the Cord worked Great, It is a Change I would Buy Again,,
The charger works great and has awesome features to help charge on your schedule to maximize charging costs. The scheduler is great because you just connect and it’ll start and stop per your directions without any thought or work
Well, the device came out of box not functional.. I had to contact the manufacturer to update the firmware remotely which took good couple of days due to limited working hours and being closed over the weekend, before I get a functional charging system.. Also missing a part (the cable hanging hook) in the box which was provided later. These days, the unit seems to lose it’s WiFi connectivity and the charging schedule is not working. I need to reset the unit by flipping the breaker and things start working again.
Overall, the machine does what it supposed to but not 100% maintenance free..
Installation by a licensed electrician was straightforward. We bought the EvoCharge based on a friend’s experience having it work flawlessly charging his daily drive Bolt for the last 5 years. So far so good.
We have not used the mobile app so I was trying to leave that blank. We know no evil of it, but our car and its app has onboard scheduling and we’d rather not have two apps trying to do the same task.
EvoCharge Home 50 Amp Smart EV Charger is great and fast charging for my 2024 Tesla Model Y. Great option for J1772 vehicles or with Tesla provided adapter to charge Tesla
I’m waiting on a panel upgrade, so nothing to review yet. My electrician said it looks like an easy install and I love how long the charge cord is…Public chargers have such short cords, it’s like wrestling an anaconda to connect them. Can’t wait to be able to charge at home!
The software was easy to set up and configure for cheaper overnight charging and monitoring usage.
“The EvoCharge Level 2 charger has been a reliable and fast charging solution for my EV.”
This is an excellent and so far the best home charger I’ve used. The app has all the features and information you need, as it gives you instant access and notifications on how the charging process goes. Also you can know what the “cost” of each charge is with its built in kWh calculator, so if you want to have a friend use and charge them, you can easily know the price. It’s really a great charger. I’ve had this for a year and so far nothing to complain. The only feature that it’s not working reliably is the schedule charging, but it could also be an issue with my EV, so I’m not going to pin it on this product.
